Responsibilities

The Enterprise Application Architect will work closely with Project Managers to lead, perform and be accountable for the following. The Enterprise Architect will also work as a team with Data Architect, Infrastructure Architect and Security Architect.
  • Development of architecture from various viewpoints (Data, Application, Infrastructure and Security Architecture domains) and perform the development of Application Architecture in modelling them at different levels of abstraction to support strategic analysis and decision making.
  • Identification and assessment of current (as is) and desired (to be) states of the architecture in terms of alignment with business objectives, best practices, and strategic or tactical significance. And to develop recommendations for closing the gaps.
  • Define and document the actions to close architecture gaps, arrange individual actions into a comprehensive transition strategy, and support the development of a detailed transition plan.
  • Assessment of the solution integrity and risks inherent in a proposed solution or critical situation against the underlying business intent -- so that the recommendations and findings are appropriate, are acceptable to the business, and could be implemented.
  • Maintain a holistic perspective on the business and capabilities needed to deliver the strategic goals and objectives -- including their mutual interdependencies, and the risks and benefits associated with employing them at various points in time.
  • Defines best practices in the critical evaluation and selection and / or development of the software components and hardware requirements of the applications and data, and the development of the application, including evaluation and selection of development methods, development processes, best practices and tools. 
  • Responsible for applications-related quality, performance, availability, scalability, and integrity. 
  • Specifies and provides ownership of reusable application components or reusable application code.

Desired Skills and Experience

Requirements
  • Possess a good Honours degree preferably from a reputable university in Information Technology or equivalent.
  • Expert technical skills in one or more of the following: Java Enterprise Edition, Mobile, JavaScript frameworks, Business Intelligence, ETL, Data Warehousing and Advanced Analytics. Knowledge in Cloud (IaaS and PaaS) will be an added advantage.
  • Good to possess TOGAF or other industry recognised architecture certifications. 
  • At least 10 years’ experience in overall IT experience of which 5 years should be in architecture design involving application, data and integration.
  • At least 10 years’ experience in design and development experience in Java EE, .Net, Middleware (TIBCO, JMS), REST, Web Services, SQL, Unix/Linux etc.
  • At least 5 years’ experience in designing and implementing applications for high availability and performance.
  • Proven experience in several completed software development life cycles and adopting agile software development methodologies such as SCRUM.
  • Proven leadership experience and experienced in working with multicultural and multinational teams.
  • Good communication and team player.
